To Each His Own
Tastes vary from person to person, and I suppose they do from dog to dog. Here is the latest Hilo Report. Our labradoodle has a bad habit of chewing on our son. So last night, following the suggestion of the dog trainer, we sprayed my son's arms and hands with Bitter Yuck. Hilo then licked my son all over. She likes it! But I guess she's not chewing on him anymore.

Confessions of a Trekkie
When I was a kid, my sister and I used to watch Star Trek in the afternoon. We would even tape record the show so we could listen to it again and again. This was pre-VCR days. Am I dating myself or what? My poor day would come home from a long day at work and holler, "How are you?" We'd be recording and would go, "Shhhhhhhh!" He never did understand what we were doing. I'm not sure I do today. When I was in 6th grade and my sister was 16 and just driving, we went to a Star Trek Convention. Yep. Embarrassing, isn't it? Funny thing was, they even sold cassette taped recordings of the show. Of course, we bought some. Well, fast forward to the reinvention of Star Trek and the Next Generation. My sister was a fan. I wasn't so much. I saw a couple of the films but never really connected with the new characters. And NOW! There's a new Star Trek generation where they go back to the original characters and their beginning at Star Fleet Academy. So I saw the film over the weekend. It was a blast. Lots of fun. Really loved it. I'm sure there will be more films in the future. And I'll be there watching. Live long and prosper.
So are you a Trekkie too?

Don't you just love reviews?!?!
Well, I do when they read like this one about Ruby's Slippers:
It’s a modern-day Wizard of Oz with Cinderella undertones. But this is no fairy tale or fantasy, with magical resolutions and guaranteed happy endings. It’s a deeply moving story of hurt and healing, of love and loss, of hope and redemption. Immensely entertaining, it is chock full of wit, grit, humor and heartache. Truly unforgettable, Ruby’s Slippers has the potential to be a classic.
Don’t miss this one!

Summertime, Summertime, Sum-sum-summertime!
The days go so quickly once the kids come home for the summer. They've been out for over a week now. Or is it two? Man, I've lost track! We're in the midst of dance recitals, piano recitals, voice recitals and upcoming Nationals for fencing. I'm a bit on overload. I'm staying busy on the Wii Fit! Anyone try it? Boy, am I having fun. And parts of me are NOT having fun. :) How do y'all cope with the summer heat of busy kids and overloaded schedules?

The Morning After ...
The morning after Mother's Day, after a long weekend at my folks' ranch, after getting the kids ready for their last day of school was a bit crazed this morning. But it certainly picked up when I got a link to a new interview. Hope you'll check this out. Nora did an outstanding job. Winner!
Christy was the first to blog yesterday about anyone in her family who has served in the military. I received numerous emails listing so many wonderful service men and women! Love hearing those stories. Anyway, congrats, Christy!
